Alcorn Law Corporation

Alcorn Law Corporation provides a wide range of legal services for associations, other non-profit organizations and for-profit organizations. In addition to legal services provided by our firm, we work closely with other law and accounting firms to handle matters regarding special expertise in any area, such as litigation, tax or political law.

We believe regular audits of your governance documents is one of the ways you can minimize your legal expenses and stay ahead of potential problems. Ensuring your articles of incorporation, bylaws and policies are consistent and reflective of current changes in the legal and strategic framework you are operating in is critical, yet easily overlooked. Making sure your chapters or components are up to date and in compliance with the law can save you a lot of headaches.

We are firm believers that knowledge is power. Your staff, board, volunteer leaders and chapter components need regular training to ensure they fully understand their fiduciary duties. We routinely provide board orientation training which includes not only the legal perspective, but also addresses the careful balance of power and division of duties commonly found in high-performance associations.

No Retainers

Alcorn Associates does not ask for retainers. In our experience, retainers do not represent a solid value to the client. All legal work is billed either hourly, or in some cases, on a flat fee basis.

Some Problems Don't Just Go Away...

Remember, don't wait too long to get qualified counsel involved.

We are firm believers in appropriate, quick action. Handling an issue promptly and quietly is a better strategy than hoping it will go away on its own. Too often we see budgetary concerns cited as a reason to not call counsel in early but that can be a false economy. Issues that remain unaddressed or are allowed to fester can become even more complicated and costly down the road both in terms of lost productivity, member enthusiasm, reputation and money.
